When I think about everything I have been taught about art, or what art is; What art can be, what makes art ART...it really confuses me. It confuses me as to what I am - Am I an artist? Am I just a designer? Can I be both? At the same time? I know I think more along the lines of a designer. That's ultimately what I want to do - I enjoy it a lot. There's something about it that makes me excited, and gives me passion. I want to make things look good in this world, and that's my job. Though some may not like it, and others may. Having a class with Danielle Dimston (my descriptive drawing professor - check her out www.dimston.net) has made me think though - our work is what defines us, but yet we define our work. We have all the control. We have to ask ourselves "what do I want out of this? what am I trying to say? am I really saying it?". I wish I could one day express myself through the means that she has found. Because there is so much I want to say. And I want to explore that, and really become something more than what I already am.

There is so much that we rely on to define ourselves. The only truth in that seems to lie in what we put out to show the world. But there may be other factors around us that affect what that image truthfully is.

Learning to avoid those factors that detere us humans and grasping onto what is real, is something worth knowing.
